Reader Sessions: Visit with your favorite authors. Discuss past, present and future projects.
Keynote Luncheon: Who better to have as a keynote speaker for Romance Slam Jam 2009 in L.A. than the fabulous L.A. Banks. Leslie Esdaile (L.A. Banks) has penned over 30 novels and 11 novellas in a wide range of genres with her roots firmly planted in romance. She is the recipient of the 2008 Essence Magazine Storyteller of the Year Award. Under the pseudonyms; L.A. Banks, Leslie Esdaile, Leslie E. Banks, Leslie Banks, and Leslie Esdaile Banks, she has won several business as well as literary awards including the prestigious Emma award for outstanding romance.
Workshops: Learn how to write a book from beginning to end, from the first creative idea that sparks the imagination to publishing. Join our authors for a look at the publishing business from the inside out. Authors and workshops to be announced.
Intimate Sessions: Enjoy an hour of magnificent time with your favorite authors. Limited to 10 attendees on a first come, first served basis. So register early. Authors to be announced.

Welcome Party: Beach Party Bingo will be held on Thursday night, March 13 with a cash bar. Join us for some fun in the sun and don’t forget your sunblock.
Emma Awards Banquet: Named after the co-founder of the Romance Slam Jam, the Emma Awards is the premier awards event for readers and authors of Black romance. Formal attire is not required, but dressing up is fun.
Pass the Torch/Town Hall: Learn about the next Romance Slam Jam, enjoy a lively discussion with the Romance Slam Jam family.
Friday Night Fantasy: Enjoy an evening at Universal City Walk with fine dining, sidewalk concerts, shopping and cinema.
Autograph signing: Authors will have a unique opportunity to mingle with their readers while signing their books.
Book Exchange Table: Looking for a new author, bring in an old book to exchange at our book exchange table.
Second Act Party. Though Friday is a free night to explore, for those who don't want to leave the hotel we'll be hosting the Second Act Party with readers acting out scenes from our Emma nominated books. Join us for a fun evening of entertainment.

Each year, the Slam Jam Committee supports a non-profit organization. This year, FirstBook.org is the primary recipient of our donations of books for children.
